Prada Presents “A Therapy”

I had no idea that this little 3-minute number by Roman Polanski and Prada got so much press; it was actually unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival, an unusual and remarkable achievement for an ad/film hybrid. In any event, both Sir Ben Kingsley and Helena Bonham Carter play their roles beautifully, however short—but my eyes still focus in on the Prada pieces scattered throughout. Well done, Prada.

My entire life is me having intense dramatic moments and wishing this song played, and that I was wearing a fur coat.

In class on Monday, we watched Ils Se Marièrent et Eurent Beaucoup d’Enfants and Charlotte Gainsbourg grew on me. She really did. The movie was one of my favorites we’ve watched so far…hilarious and made you think about your own priorities in love and life.

Tearjerkers & Tissues: W Asks

These little blurbs hosted by the team over at W are just fantastic; it’s a simply-premised question that gets celebrities to open up about what gets ‘em in theaters. My favorite is George Clooney, but maybe it’s because I’ve had a crush on him for just about ever—although Christopher Plummer’s makes me grin, too. Check out these little snippets that vaguely remind me of Rodarte’s behind-the-scenes video.

Trailer: Bill Cunningham, New York

I will continue to post this trailer until every single one of my followers has given in and seen this film. This is, by far, one of my favorite movies I’ve ever seen, mainly because Bill Cunningham is a man I will never not be enamored with. Eighty years old and still snapping along, Mr. Cunningham paints a visual portrait of the New York style scene daily. After years of shooting in the business, he’s befriended both couture junkies and street style luminaries all over, from Iris Apfel (0:46) and Annette de la Renta to kids in the middle of intersections. His personal beliefs and lifestyle may be even more interesting than the work he does, though; Bill’s simple day-to-day, at a glance, includes living in a one-room apartment without utilities (“Who needs a kitchen or a bathroom?!” he often exclaims), biking everywhere (he’s currently on his 29th bike), and wearing the same cobalt blue plastic poncho every day (“If everyone dressed like a slob like me, it’d be a pretty dreary world”). I could watch this movie over and over til I’m Bill’s age, and never fall a bit out of love with it.

Trailer for “Picture Me (A Model’s Diary)”. I’ve been wanting to see this for awhile; maybe I’ll try and find it today.
